Start fundraising early!
The sooner you start, the more time you’ll have to reach and exceed your goal. If you reach your goal before the event takes place, increase your target for greater impact. For double the impact, try offering some fun incentives for your top fundraisers.
Recruit others to create pages
Once your event page is ready, invite others to create their own fundraising pages and ask them to invite their family and friends to join.
Who to ask
Email is a quick and easy way to tell people about your fundraising event. Connect with your friends, family and co-workers by using the sample emails we’ve created for you or write your own. Remember, the number one reason why people donate is because they were asked.
How to ask
Emailing your contacts from your fundraising page isn’t the only to promote your event. Call them by phone, talk to them in person or use social media – whatever suits you best! Make sure you let them know about your event and why you’re fundraising for the Alzheimer Society. Personalize your page by adding photos or stories. Whatever motivates you to fundraise will motivate others to donate.
Fundraising has its up and downs, but don’t get discouraged. Keep the momentum going by talking about your event with others, posting it on Facebook or Twitter, including it in your email signature, and emailing regular updates from within your event or personal page. Tell everyone about your fundraising goal and how close you are to achieving it. And don’t be afraid to ask for support often. Some people need friendly reminders.
Say thank you
Always thank our donors no matter the size of their donation. Visit your Participant Centre where you can send thank you emails directly to online donors.
